It was a classic City of Gqeberha summer evening, and my family and I decided to head to the local Playland at Kings Beach for a fun outing. As we arrived, the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the park.

We started off by walking through the carnival-like atmosphere, taking in all the sights and sounds of the park. There were brightly colored rides, games, and food stands scattered throughout the park, each one more tempting than the last.

As we walked, we heard the laughter and screams of children and adults alike, enjoying the thrills of the rides. My young kids were practically bouncing with excitement, eager to try out everything the park had to offer.

We first stopped at a spinning ride called the “Tilt-A-Whirl.” As we sat in the circular cars, the ride slowly started to spin, picking up speed as it went. My stomach lurched as we spun around, my kids laughing and squealing with delight. It was amazing! We often see these things on Netflix but this was great.

Next up was the roller coaster, a thrilling ride that soared through the air, looping and twisting through the park. As we climbed higher and higher, I could feel my heart racing with excitement. And when we finally reached the top and plummeted down the first drop, I couldn’t help but scream with joy.

After the roller coaster, we took a break to grab some food from one of the stands. We enjoyed Chip ‘n Dip and cotton candy as we watched the sun sink lower in the sky, the colors of the sunset reflecting off the carousel and other rides.

As the evening wore on, we continued to explore the park, trying out different rides and games. We rode the Ferris wheel, which offered stunning views of the park and the surrounding area. We also played some carnival games, trying our luck at winning stuffed animals and other prizes. Throw soccer balls and toilet papers rolls at basket ball hoops and toilets. LOL. Seriously.

As we drove home, we reminisced about all the exciting rides and games we had tried, already planning our next visit to the amusement park.

Overall, it was a wonderful family outing, filled with laughter and memories that we will treasure for years to come. It’s these little moments that make life so special, and I’m grateful to have such a wonderful family to share them with.

Just wanted to let you know (moms and dads) that the park has increased its security measures by not allowing any alcohol or weapons. Admission to the park is free, but each ride requires a ticket which costs R20. I reckon that you’ll need one to four tickets per ride. Some of the most popular rides, like the Breakdancer, Ferris Wheel, Exclusive Style, and Bumper Cars, are all available again this year.

They’ve got you covered in case of load-shedding – we have generators on standby to make sure you won’t be left in the dark. There are plenty of food stalls and food trucks to choose from, and you can also try your luck at the game booths for a chance to win a teddy bear or some cash. Don’t forget to check out the clowns and face painting while you’re here! We hope you have a great time at the park.

Great family outing and visit Playland all round – they’ll be open from 3pm on weekdays and 10am on public holidays until late. They will also be open on Christmas Day from 3pm until late. On selected days, you can get unlimited access to the park for three hours with the purchase of an armband for R300. Keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram pages for more information.

They’ll be open until January 8, 2023, so don’t miss out! Trading hours below.

Much love
