City ofgqeberha
A local’s point of view

A city to explore.
A place to belong.

City of Gqeberha is an independent guide to the places, people and experiences that make Nelson Mandela Bay worth knowing.

Hello, I’m Dean.

I live here.
I look a little longer.

I’m Dean Cothill — a Gqeberha-based photographer, writer and the founder of City of Gqeberha. What began with a love for this place became a way of sharing it.

This platform brings together local businesses, family outings, wild spaces, community stories and the people quietly making something good.

The writing is personal. The photographs come from time spent noticing. The invitation is simple: see a little more of the city, and perhaps feel a little more at home in it.

Gqeberha.
Port Elizabeth.
Our home.

Our stories use both names because both are part of how people find and speak about this city. The coast, the neighbourhoods, the small businesses and the people are at the heart of the guide.

City of Gqeberha is independently run. We are not the municipality or an official visitor information service.
